Bonjour! ¡Hola!

I am pleased to welcome you to my class. I hope you will enjoy learning a foreign language.

I came from Britain originally - as you will tell by my accent. I studied French and German at the University of Bristol in England and went on to do an M.A. in Spanish at the University of Akron in Ohio. I have always loved foreign languages and have lived and worked in France, Germany and Mexico.

My family moved to the United States in 1990 and we all became American citizens in 2000. We moved to Charlotte in 1998 and I taught at Providence High School from 1999-2012. This is a wonderful school and I had the pleasure of teaching all kinds of students who have impressed me greatly with the level of their intelligence and their multiple accomplishments. I have seen many of them go on to excellent universities and fascinating careers.

I like studying too and for several years, I took part in teacher institutes in the Charlotte Teacher's Institute and at the Yale National Initiative. In 2012-2013 I took a year out after twelve years at Providence to begin working on a second masters degree - in Instructional Technology. I also taught French 201 and 202 at the University of Akron.

I'm glad to be back at Providence and am looking forward to having you in my class!
